Volatization is another name for vaporization that uses heat to release the active ingredients from the herbs. Just enough heat is applied to heat the substance but not to burn it.

It is important to understand that burning denatures a substance, which means that the molecular structure of the substance is modified due to the chemical changes that take place when burning. When denaturing takes place and a substance is burned due to high heat, pyrolysis takes place.

Pyrolysis creates new unwanted elements when molecules breakdown. People smoke to get the essential ingredient of tobacco, which is nicotine; however, when smoking it is not only nicotine that people inhale, but also other harmful toxins such as tar and smoke. These unwanted elements are created by pyrolysis.

In vaporization, since the temperature is lower than that is needed for combustion of herbal substances, the substance is not denatured and pyrolysis does not take place. Vaporization only releases the active ingredients in the herbs. The mist or vapor that is produced through vaporization is the result of the naturally occurring elements of the herbs used.

The fact remains the people who smoke do understand the negative effects of smoking and there is that lingering fear within them at all times. Vaporization can in contrast be a pleasurable experience, because users are secure in the knowledge that their bodies are not being harmed in any way.
